Extension Green County in coordination with the WI Master Gardeners Association will be hosting a Level 1 Master Gardener Training in 2020.
Master Gardener Volunteers are trained volunteers who aid University of Wisconsin Extension staff by helping people in the community better understand horticulture and their environment. Master Gardener Volunteers provide service to their community, normally within their own county, although special arrangements can be made to participate in other counties activities.
Level 1 training consists of 9 classes held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. One additional class will be held on Saturday, March 7th, to attend the Green County Master Gardeners Symposium (registration fee included in the course fee). Classroom sessions will be held at the Green County Justice Center, multi-purpose rooms, 2841 – 6th Street, Monroe, running from January 14th – March 17th, 2020. Horticulture topics will include: Soils, Plant Nutrition, & Composting; Plant Growth & Propagation; Lawn Care; Entomology; Integrated Pest Management; Plant Pathology, Diagnostics, & Diseases; Weed ID & Invasive Plants; Perennial Flowers, Vegetables & Fruits; General Gardening Practices; Backyard Wildlife/Pollinators; Landscape Design; Woody Plants, Trees, & Shrubs.
A criminal background check and mandatory child protection training is required for all participants. Cost to participate is $80.00. Call the Extension office at 608-328-9440 for details to register.
