Guidelines and Rules

  1. Open to any 4-H club in Green County and all members within that club.
  2. A club that can not form a full team will be paired with another club(s).
  3. Minimum of 4 teams are required for the tournament to be held.
  4. Teams must consist of a minimum of 10 players (no maximum team size).
  5. Games will be approximately 40 minutes long.
  6. Rules are very similar to those of regular kickball (more details to come).
    • Notable rule changes:
    • Each base will have an area, rather than a singular base. This area can hold more than 1 player at a time (ie. 4-5 players or more can be on the base). This means there are no force outs, and a player must be tagged with the ball or the ball must hit them below the shoulders for them to be out. You may still throw the ball to first base to get the kicker out.
    • Rather than fielding and kicking teams switching after 3 outs, each team sends 10 kickers to the plate, allowing more game play.
    • Teams are still encouraged to get 3 outs! If the fielding team gets 3 outs in 3 inning before the 10 kickers from the kicking team have gone, the fielding team gets 1 run (possibility of 3 extra runs if you get 9 out of 10 players out in 1 inning).
    • Once the 10th kicker hits the ball, play continues normally until the fielding team records 1 standard out OR if the ball is successfully thrown back and controlled inside the pitcher’s circle.
    • If a kicked ball is caught in the air on the fly, all runners must immediately return to their original bases.
    • A ball kicked toward the side fence must hit the ground first to be considered fair play.
  7. There is no stealing bases or leadoffs. Runners may leave the base area when the ball is kicked.
  8. All participants will receive a frozen treat and the winning club will receive an extra prize!
