Garden Inspirations For All Seasons Speakers

  • Bob Lindmeier, is a retired Meteorologist who believes strongly in climate change education. Bob received a degree in meteorology from the University of Wisconsin in 1979. During his career Bob worked at Weather Central, Wisconsin TV Network, 44 years at WKOW-TV and numerous other radio and TV stations. In 2019 he was presented with the Wisconsin Silver Circle lifetime achievement award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. In 2023 he was presented with the Local Broadcast Legends award from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
  • Scott Johnson, is the director of the Low Technology Institute. He started thinking about how we’re going to live in a more local, less energy-intensive future while working as an academic archaeologist and has transition that interest into creating research and educational programming answering the question, “How will we live comfortably in 2100?”
  • Anthony Nied, after graduating with a degree in horticulture from Chippewa Valley Technical College, Anthony was hired by Down to Earth Garden Center in Eau Claire as the Manager of the Lawn Care and Landscape Division. Seven years later Anthony started Nied Landscape and Design and Safe and Simple Organic Lawns, which both had a focus on increasing the sustainability of our community one property at a time. Safe and Simple Organic Lawns received a green industry award from the city of Eau Claire. Anthony transformed those businesses into Flawn Seed Kits in 2022 making it easy to transform an existing grass lawn into a low maintenance flowering lawn.
  • Chris Bandura, is the Conservation Cropping Outreach Specialist for UW-Madison Division of Extension in the Crops and Soils Program. His work primarily focusses on enhancing knowledge about soil health and function and what management practices can be implemented to achieve maximum conservation of soil resources.
  • Kimberly Kester, Regional Livestock Educator for the counties of Grant, Green, Iowa and Lafayette, starting in 2024. Her programming focuses on beef cow-calf operations, specifically genetic improvement, heifer development, and heat abatement. Kim also supports programming in small ruminant parasite management and poultry flock management. Kim has worked as a bull herdsman for a cattle genetics company, and a national educator for the American Beekeeping Federation. Kim worked for over 6 years as a County Extension Coordinator and Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent for University of Georgia Extension. And she also serves as an agriculture officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. Kim holds 5 degrees from the Universities of Texas, Florida, Iowa and Wisconsin; a Doctoral, 2 Master of Science and 2 Bachelor of Science degrees.

Green County Master Gardeners Association Scholarship Application

The Green County Master Gardeners Association (GCMGA) will award up to $1,000 in annual scholarships to graduates of Green County area high schools or Green County residents enrolled in secondary education. This includes students already attending college or a Technical College. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage individual to take advantage of continuing educational opportunities in agronomy, botany, horticulture, or a related field. Applicants may attend a four-year public, private college or a Technical College either within the state of Wisconsin or outside of the state. Information about the Green County Master Gardeners Association

The Wisconsin Master Gardener Program teaches volunteers who aid University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension Staff by helping people in the community better understand horticulture and their environment. The Green County Master Gardeners Association (GCMGA) is located in Monroe, Wisconsin and helps to serve the needs of all gardeners in Green County and the surrounding area.

The Green County Master Gardeners Association Mission is:

  • To serve the needs of all gardeners in Green County and the surrounding area.
  • To promote the continuing education of members through horticultural education, programs, tours, etc.
  • To promote community service through volunteer activities.
  • To recognize members who meet and maintain certification.
  • To provide for the exchange of ideas and to provide opportunities to promote the understanding of responsible gardening practices.
  • To provide a link between the community and the UW-Extension.
