Livestock Facility Study Group Updates – June 2023

The Livestock Facility Study Group puts forward the following recommendations for consideration by the Green County Board. These recommendations cannot become policy or have any legal effect without going through the appropriate procedures for implementation. 

The recommendations are organized in the following three categories:

  • Community mapping and monitoring;
  • Best practices and outreach; and
  • Rules and regulations.

County Board Votes to Accept Green County Livestock Facility Study Group Report Recommendations for Consideration

On May 8th, 2018, the Green County Board voted to accept the Livestock Facility Study Group and recommendations for consideration. Green County Livestock Facility Study Group

The Green County Livestock Facility Study Group was established by resolution of the Green County Board on August 8, 2017. The purpose of the Study Group is to use science-based information to provide the Green County Board with science-based recommendations developed to effectively protect groundwater, surface water, air quality, and public health and safety.

  • Wisconsin Geological & Natural History SurveyThe Wisconsin Geological & Natural History Survey conducts earth-science surveys, field studies, and research. They provide objective scientific information about the geology, mineral resources, water resources, soil, and biology of Wisconsin. They collect, interpret, disseminate, and archive natural resource information. They communicate the results of their activities through publications, technical talks, and responses to inquiries from the public. These activities support informed decision making by government, industry, business, and individual citizens of Wisconsin.
